The project team will develop information pertaining to service area, specific funding streams, and type of transportation services offered. Data will be organized and searchable by county, HSTP region and RPO region. Funding streams included are 5310, 5311, DOAP grantees, as well as Title IIB and Title XX grantees. Census data will be updated, including American Community Survey Data, and Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) data.
Service areas will be geo-processed to create GIS coverages of areas served by IDOT grantees and other identified human service and specialized transportation providers. This spatial data will be integrated with provider data and socio-economic data, such as target populations (seniors, disabled and low-income), regional employment and transportation systems
To create a comprehensive database of public transit and specialized transportation providers in the state of Illinois within the framework of an interactive information management system with GIS capabilities. This system will serve multiple stakeholders and provide hierarchical access for the purposes of data development, maintenance and retrieval. Stakeholders include the UTC research team, IDOT, HSTP Coordinators, other state and regional agencies as well as regional planners and mobility managers.
A review of all existing public transit and specialized transportation providers, beginning with IDOT grantees, Illinois HSTP transportation provider inventories and the Illinois Department on Aging grantees.
Implement and maintain an online statewide provider inventory with detailed data geocoded at the county, HSTP and RPO levels.
Implement and maintain an interactive mapping application that integrates geocoded provider data with socio-economic data.
Develop and maintain the databases necessary for these applications.
Develop and maintain online data entry interfaces to allow users to maintain their own relevant databases on the server.
Develop user-friendly applications to query the data and to perform data and spatial analysis facilitating planning and coordination of services.
Expected Results or Products:
This project will yield, at a minimum, the following deliverables: a comprehensive searchable database of public transit and specialized transportation providers in the state of Illinois.. The database will include type of service provided and geo-coded service area. In addition, the project will yield a web-based mapping application that will allow the end user to view service providers by service area, service type, or by provider. Finally, protocols on database maintenance and mechanisms for updating the information will be provided.
