Transportation Research Board 96th Annual Meeting — January 9-12, 2017
The 96th Transportation Research Board Annual meeting was held in Washington, D.C. at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The information-packed program attracted 13,000 transportation professionals from around the world. The TRB Annual Meeting covered all transportation modes, with more than 4,500 presentations in nearly 800 sessions and workshops. TMA of Lake Cook 2017 Construction Meeting — March 23, 2017
TMA of Lake Cook will host its Annual Highway Construction Meeting, where speakers from the Illinois Department of Transportation, Lake County Division of Transportation, Cook County Department of Highways and Transportation, Illinois Tollway, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and neighboring communities will provide an overview of construction projects planned for 2017. The meeting will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. March 23 at the Baxter Healthcare Auditorium in Deerfield, Illinois.

Joint Rail Conference — April 4-7, 2017
The international Joint Rail Conference is the premier technical event in the U.S.A. including all discipline for freight and passenger rail transportation; mechanical, electrical, civil, and systems engineering, as well as rail safety, planning, design, manufacturing, financing, operations, and management. American Real Estate Society Annual Meeting –April 4-8, 2017
The 33nd Annual ARES Meeting brings together real estate thought leaders to discuss a wide range of topics, including the impact of transportation on real estate development and expansion. Members are drawn from academia and the profession at large. The venue is the Coronado Marriott near San Diego.
Transportation Research Forum — April 20-21, 2017
Founded in 1958, the Transportation Research Forum (TRF) is an independent organization of transportation professionals. The annual forum provides pertinent and timely information to those who conduct research and those who use and benefit from research. This year, the event will be held at the UIC Student Center East.
AASHTO Spring Meeting — May 22-25, 2017
The 2017 AASHTO Spring Meeting will be held in Portland, Maine and brings together state departments of transportation officials to discuss a broad range of transportation issues and participate in sessions that cover the latest in industry policies and innovations. The venue is the Holiday Inn Portland — By the Bay.
Transport Chicago 2017 — June 9, 2017
Now in its 32nd year, the annual Transport Chicago event brings together industry professionals, academics and students together for a full day of learning on all modes of transportation. This year, Transport Chicago will feature two outstanding men. The morning keynote presentation will be delivered by Willie Brown, the two-term mayor of San Francisco and Speaker of the California State Assembly. And, the luncheon speaker will be Charles Marohn, a licensed professional engineer and president and founder of the Strong Towns organization. The day-long event will be held at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza. Registration is now open.
CUTC Summer Meeting — June 19-21, 2017
The summer meeting of the Council of Urban Transportation Centers (CUTC) will be held at the University of Buffalo. Watch for more details.
Rail Infrastructure and Vehicle Inspection Technology Conference — June 20-21, 2017
The RIVIT Conference will include presentations on the effectiveness of new and existing technologies and research on emerging technologies. It will be held at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is hosted by RailTEC.
Third Quarter 2017
The Railway Academic Conference (TRAC) — July 2017
This three-day conference is being co-hosted by the NURail Center and American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) and will be held at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A conference goal is to provide current research and strengthen railroad workforce development. Details on the 2017 conference were still being finalized.
Midwest Rail Conference — August 15-17, 2017
Organized by the Michigan Tech Transportation Institute, NURail and Michigan Department of Transportation, the conference will be held at Western Michigan University. The planning committee will announce program details soon.
With roots dating back to 1995, the UIC Urban Forum is a day-long symposium “designed to advance the dialogue about the future of urban communities.” Watch for details on the 2017 conference, which will be held at the UIC Forum in Chicago.

AASHTO 2017 Annual Meeting — September 25-28, 2017
This meeting is one of the transportation industry’s most important gatherings of transportation, government and commercial organizations. The four-day AASHTO 2016 Annual Meeting will be held at the Sheraton Grand Phoenix. Visit the AASHTO website for registration information.
APTA 2017 Annual Meeting — October 8-11, 2017
The American Public Transportation Association’s 2017 Annual Meeting will bring public transportation leadership and staff, representatives of governmental agencies and businesses, manufacturers, suppliers, and consultants together for meetings, workshops and presentations. The venue is the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
Urban Transit and Sustainable Networks Conference — October 25-26, 2017
The conference, which will be held in Cantania, Italy, is being hosted by International Experts for Research Enrichment and Knowledge Exchange. Visit the IEREK website to register or submit a paper.
