Transport Chicago annual day long transportation conference

Transport Chicago is an annual conference dedicated to the mission of improving transportation in the Chicago region and beyond. Originally conceived as a student-led forum, today Transport Chicago brings together seasoned experts and professionals of all ages for a one-day fun, engaging, and semi-formal conference setting.

Every year, the goal is to ignite the conversation. Transport Chicago provides a platform to exchange ideas and knowledge and to build the relationships that are necessary to solve the complex transportation problems of today and tomorrow.

Transportation scholars and professionals have submited proposals for the special 40th Annual Conference on Friday, June 13, 2025, at voco Chicago Downtown. The one-day conference will feature presentations, sessions, and posters on a wide range of transportation topics.

Some general topics include:

  • Transit expansions or maximizing the efficiency of freight movement
  • Transit-oriented development or complete streets and micromobility
  • ​Equity, data, design, or community engagement

Luann Hamilton

Luann Hamilton worked at the Chicago Department of Transportation and its predecessor the Department of Public Works for 34 years, starting as a City Planner in 1985 and serving as Deputy Commissioner of the Division of Project Development for 14 years prior to retiring in 2019. As division head, she led a staff dedicated to multi-modalism during the growth of Chicago’s pedestrian and bicycle programs and the launch of Vision Zero. Since her retirement from CDOT, Luann served as Senior Advisor at TranSmart (now Atlas) for four years, and currently serves as President of the board of the Active Transportation Alliance.

Jerome A. Horne | Deputy Director of Communications for the Baltimore Red Line

Jerome is the Deputy Director of Communications for the Baltimore Red Line at the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration. Jerome comes to MDOT MTA with experience from the Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation (IndyGo), Foursquare Integrated Transportation Planning and TransitCenter, a national transportation advocacy and research group. His previous roles concentrated on proactive community engagement, the rider experience of using transit and increasing representative leadership in the transit industry. Recognized for his passion and dedication to the industry, Jerome has been named to the 40 Under 40 lists of both Mass Transit Magazine and the Association for Commuter Transportation. Additionally, he is a graduate of the American Public Transportation Association’s Emerging Leader Program. Jerome is the founder and previous Board Chair for the Young Professionals in Transportation Indianapolis chapter as well as Deputy Director of Communications for Young Professionals in Transportation International from 2018-2020. He has also served as a Transit Cooperative Research Program Ambassador from 2018 - 2020. He lives in downtown Baltimore and enjoys walking around the Inner Harbor, attending live performances, and going to museums. Jerome doesn’t own a car; rides transit whenever possible and likes to bike. Additionally, he curates his extensive collection of transit memorabilia known as the International Micro Museum of Transit.
