UTC Recognizes Recipient of 2025 DiJohn Memorial Scholarship Award

Eamon Lauster recipient of DiJohn Memorial Scholarship from UTC

Congratulations to Research Assistant Eamon Lauster

A UTC graduate research assistant with a "fascination" for all forms of urban transportation was awarded the 2025 Joe DiJohn Memorial Scholarship Award.  Our sincere congratulations to Eamon Lauster, who has participated in research studies since Fall of 2024 while pursuing his master's degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois Chicago.

The scholarship was created by the family of Mr. DiJohn, a former UIC adjunct faculty member, UTC researcher, director of the METSI research program, and the first executive director of Pace Suburban Bus.

When asked to share his thoughts on pursuing studies in transportation, Eamon offered the following:

"For someone fascinated by urban transportation, it has been wonderful to work and study in Chicago. I believe that reliable, far-reaching transit is vital to a thriving city, and that the potential for abundant transit in Chicagoland is only growing. At UTC, I have researched autonomous driving systems in freight, intercity passenger rail supply and demand, and traffic impact analysis across the CMAP region. At UIC, I have focused on data mapping and visualization, plan making, and capital and asset management in transportation agencies. I am making the transition from my education to my field at an exciting time for public transit in America. This scholarship will enable me to pursue my passion."
