12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
A leading scholar and developer of a smart phone app will share studies related to transportation happiness—people’s emotional well-being while on trips – during “Measuring, Managing, and Maximizing Transportation Happiness Using Smartphone-Aided Day Reconstruction Method,” an hour-long webinar November 19 hosted by the Urban Transportation Center at UIC as part of the Fall 2020 Seminar Series.
Featured speaker is Dr. Yingling Fan, Professor of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Fan is the lead inventor of the Daynamica technology, featuring a smartphone-human hybrid intelligence system to measure and shape human behavior and well-being.
Dr. Fan will address:
- The emotional well-being during a trip as an essential aspect of promoting “humanistic” (i.e., human-centered) transportation planning practices.
- The Daynamica app, a smartphone application that combines smartphone sensing and surveying to collect continuous and momentary data on travel behavior and experience.
- How trip and personal characteristics may affect transportation happiness in complicated and sensitive ways.
UTC Director Dr. P.S. Sriraj will moderate.
Following the presentations, participants will be able to present questions to the speakers.
The webinar starts at noon central time.
