Have License Plate Cameras Helped Reduce Shootings on Chicago-Area Expressways?

Cameras may be behind a drop in Chicago area expressway shootings

In Channel 2 News Report, UTC Director Dr. P.S. Sriraj Shares Comments

Statistics revealed that shootings on Chicago-area expressways declined through July when compared to the same period last year.  One possible factor behind the drop in shootings: Installation of cameras that can track auto license plates.

In a CBS Chicago Channel 2 report that aired August 5, UTC Director Dr. P.S. Sriraj said further study is needed to determine if the decline is, indeed, based on the cameras.
