US DOT NuRail Center of Excellence Launched
Urban Transportation Center to be Part of Nine-University Consortium
On May 30, a new federally-funded research center that will work to advance research solutions to "enhance the safety, efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of both passenger and freight rail transportation" was officially launched at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
The NuRail Center of Excellence (NURail CoE) will be managed through the The Grainger College of Engineering and be comprised by a nine-university consortium led by RailTEC.
The The Urban Transportation Center at UIC is honored to be a member of the consortium.. Federal and state dignitaries gathered for the official ribbon-cutting event. UTC Director Dr. P.S. Sriraj participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
